Part of me is a woman on her way to world domination. The other part is a southern gal who hates wearing shoes. All of me loves to say “indubitably.” ARKANSAS-WWU-NEW ZEALAND-NYC-BALI-INDIA-AND EVENTUALLY, DENVER…JUST LIVING THAT CLUMSY, WHITE-GIRL DREAM.
My name is Liz. I am THE Fabulously Awkward Girl and I’ve got the blog URL to prove it! Follow me and you I will give you tips on how to go about, or avoid, living the twenty-something life with style and a poorly timed smile.
Besides being an experimental blogger, I’m a girl who loves having a good time and am constantly soaking up all the people, places, and experiences I come across. My #1 life goal is to see as much of the world and experience as many cultures first hand as possible. So far, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting 25 different countries.
My #2 life goal is to someday have a winter lodge fully equipped with a roaring fire, bear skin rug (old enough so it’s certain the animal didn’t die in my lifetime- there is an explanation for this but I don’t feel like giving it at this time), and Neil Diamond dressed in a full sequent suit singing songs from his Xmas albums NON-STOP.
Basically, this is me telling you that, I’m a gypsy. It’s hard for me to stay put. Most weekends I like to go on mini-adventures that involve hiking, wining, dining, beaching, and anything in between. It’s likely that I’d move anywhere in the world with the simple, persuasive twist of an arm from a kindred spirit.
A great example of that: Last summer I had should length hair and was living in New York City working for a fashion company. Today I am ALMOST have a short bob haircut, after having a Britney Spears moment and getting a Sinead O’Connor buzz, as well as working as an independent Digital Marketing Consultant in Denver. Last Christmas I was halfway done with a 5 month-long volunteer position.
As Elton John once said, “I live my life like a candle in the wind.”
Don’t forget to follow this fabulously awkward girl!
Your post summery made me literally LOL Love this blog. Big fan! Sincerely, Mexican/Italian Midwestern girl. (STL)…

Great blog title, and I like the winter lodge fantasy, well, except for the Neil Diamond part… : )
Perhaps you could volunteer your marketing skills for a good cause or charity. It’s a good way to meet people and make contacts. Good luck!

So happy you appreciate the blog and my fantasy (although not appreciating the awesome cheesiness of Mr. Diamond does lose you some points)! 😉
Volunteering would be another good creative outlet I should try during this period of excessive free time. I am doing some freelancing favors for friends, which means working without pay, so that’s kind of charitable, right…?
Appreciate the feedback and suggestion! Good luck yourself!

You completely forgot to mention playing Sober Santa while laying on the bear skin rug with your favorite holiday partner………

How could I forget!? The mental image of laying on the rug next to a roaring fire WHILE playing my favorite holiday game is making me long for this life goal to get accomplished NOW.

Hi! Just found your blog. Love it. I got a crazy idea. I’m on the west coast, you’re on the east coast… I got a great guest post idea. What’s your email?

Ahem…I like the fact that you can frequently be seen wearing sunglasses and drinking wine. I have no sunglasses of my own so I compensate by drinking more wine. It seems to work.

I loved this – laughed throughout the whole time I was reading it. I love your spontaneousness (yes, I made that word up) too! Hit the road on an adventure – that’s my advice! Pick a place you know nothing about it, maybe even just drop something onto a map and if it’s affordable – go for it!

….This is kinda like waving at strangers on a train. Or in elevators. Fun. In an arthouse kind of way.

I appreciate you taking the time to even read my blog posts, let alone to follow! So thank you! I am amazed that you are so young and have traveled so far!!! When I say amazed, I really mean JEALOUS!!! But in a good way!!! Best of luck finding new work but enjoy the ride of life – it is windy, it is quick, it can cause nausea, it can take you on extreme highs and spit you out just as quickly!!!

Thanks so much for the nomination in October! Unfortunately I got the winter blues and a very busy professional life, so fabulously awkward writing was neglected. But spring is here so when the New Yorkers all come out of hibernation, weird will become commonplace and need to be written about again.
